Is your gym letting you down?
At my local gym the other day, I noticed a lady who I see almost every time I visit. I’ve been going to this particular gym regularly for the past two years and so has she. I have a special interest in her and a few other ‘regulars’ because they all have two things in common: they are all very overweight and they all visit the gym faithfully.
So what’s going on? Why do these people look exactly the same after 2 years of regular exercise?
The thing that concerns me is that these people are overweight to the point that it is detrimental to their long-term health. They obviously have the personal motivation to improve their health—they show up at the gym. They work out. So if they have the drive and the willingness to change their health why is the facility they pay good money to letting them down? If a client of mine looked and felt the same, even after 1 month, I’d be concerned and change tactics…I’m talking about years of wasted money and time here.
Any decent personal trainer will help their client learn the skills they need to train themselves effectively. They will recommend dietary changes and an exercise program that ensures the time spent at the gym (or elsewhere) is time used efficiently. Many people make the mistake of thinking it is more expensive to hire a personal trainer, but it actually saves money in the long-run because, unlike a gym, you only pay for the amount of sessions you need or want.
A few more reasons why personal training works:
Motivation- a structured program and the accountability to stick to it.
Individualised exercises-we will work with you and your health care provider to deal with any health conditions or injuries to provide a safe and efficient program. We can also help with specific training goals, such as running a marathon, or altitude training.
Efficiency- we help focus on results and stop you from wasting your valuable time doing inefficient workouts.
If you are new to exercise- we will introduce you to a simple and effective routine and will build on it according to your skill base and fitness level. Before you know it, you will have the confidence and knowledge to decide what is right for you.
Break through plateaus- if you are stuck in the same routine and want a new challenge, a personal trainer is the perfect solution. We will jump start your motivation and your routine.
Workout safely- we will watch your form and monitor your progress.
I make house calls- if you don’t like going to gyms and would rather exercise in the privacy of your home, I can show you how to do effective workouts without even leaving your house!
Lose weight- if you have made a resolution to lose fat and kilos, I will keep you on track so you can reach your goals.
Finally I need to tell you that I absolutely love helping people reach their goals. I feel especially proud when I can empower clients by teaching them the knowledge they need to make positive changes in their life themselves. Do you need a change? Give me a call.
Wishing you good health always.
